Indigenous peoples reject the government's nefarious attitud |

With peaceful protests in various parts of the country yesterday held a national civic day to protest the attitude "intolerant, repressive and anti-indigenous" from the current administration, he called the organizers. The first day of 2010 had its greatest expression in the towns of Jaén and Yurimaguas Amazon, where about two thousand people protested against the intolerance of the government.
Also mobilized in the highlands of Piura (Huancabamba and Ayabaca), and some localities of Lambayeque and La Libertad. Similarly, in Lima, Peru's capital, five hundred protesters coastal, Andean and Amazonian held a march that culminated in the seat of Congress.
It was obvious the participation of workers, NGOs and other social groups in solidarity with the indigenous movement. The town of Bagua dawned guarded by four thousand police special operations to prevent any demonstration.
Among the main demands is respect for the Indigenous Peoples Convention No. 169 of the International Labor Organization (OIT), and in particular the right to free, prior and informed on any measures affecting indigenous communities.
Also demanding an end to the persecution of indigenous leaders to allow the return of President of AIDESEP, Alberto Pizango, exiled in Nicaragua, and the release of three Indians held without evidence: Feliciano Kahuasa Rolin, Danny Lopez and Shawit Asterio Pujupat Wachapea.
