Who we are?
URKU AMAZONIAN STUDIES is an organization for charity (ONG), conformed by professional young people and farmers in the Region San Martin in the region Northeastern Amazonia of the Peru that comes operating from July of the year 2000.

The institutional aims of URKU are:

  • To impel the conservation of the biodiversity and the environment of the Peruvian Amazonia.
  • To promote the improvement of the quality of the life of the population of rural areas and communities native, through design and execution of projects of investment of high social yield.
  • To incorporate the perspective of currently education and fairness of sort in the projects.
  • To improve the technical competitions of the producers of the field and the forests through the investigation and technological transference.

Brief institutional review

Year 2000. The institution legally constitutes like a popular answer before the labor discrimination and little valuation of the ancestral knowledge of the amazonian towns; and before the necessity to create new spaces to conduct battle of investigation for the popular sectors.

Year 2001. In strategic alliance with other ONG's; is acceded to the first financing in the area of protection of the biodiversity.

Year 2002-2003. Projects of investigation and extension in the agricultural field are executed and institutional fortification of the Kechwas towns of San Martin. Agreements with organizations with base settle down (bunds, committees, native communities), institutes of investigation at national and international level (CENSA-Cuba, IAPAR-Brazil).

Year 2004-2006. Bases for the car are desarrolan strategic member support, qualification and alliances.
