Exhibition of the Amazonian fauna.
The Center Pukalluichu has the recognized condition of Center of Rescue; a place where certain species of the fauna are supported when immediate possibilities of reintroduction did not exist in his natural habitats.

" Many persons believe that we handle a zoo.

Actually, it doesn't please us to support and to exhibit animals in cages, but in most cases it's necessary, because many people have adapted to the presence of the man and to liberate them would mean his death to hands of the local hunters who still have not understood the serious threat of extinction that these species traverse.

Many animals that come to the Center, have been left by his holders or have been rescued of the networks of illegal trade and of the mistreatment of unscrupulous persons " (Henry Gonzáles).

Actually, in the area of Pukalluichu's rescue we can observe diverse species: the tapir (Tapirus terrestris), the coloured deer, the rodents Agouti paca and Dasyprocta variegata, eight species of primates, quelonios terrestrial and aquatic, and three species of birds on the verge of extinction. " We try to improve our knowledge on the animals that we shelter, developing forms of managing and reproduction, with the hope to fulfil the repopulation of areas of conservation affected by the hunt, the activities extractivas or the agriculture.

We have some reproductive successes, as the case of the Amazonian rodents and of the night monkeys Aotus sp. " (Henry Gonzales). An emblematic inhabitant of the Center is Joel, a spider monkey (Ateles paniscus) that was saved of dying on Piura's arid Peruvian coast for Teresa Gonzales, a voluntary Mexican, who contributes to his subsistence. Joel and Monchi, a female of his species, and Camila, a female of Ateles belzebuth (on the verge of extinction), they have formed a group very joined which there joins a pretty friar (Saimiris sciureus) of free condition.
